Memorial des RapatriesCorniche Kennedy, Marseilles, FranceSituated on Promenade Kennedy, this immense ship's propellor made of bronze was erected in 1971, in memory of those repatriated from North Africa. It was created by Marseillais sculptor Cesar to mark the exodus of the early 1960s which flowed into the city. As you look at the sculpture, your gaze is led from the unusual shape towards the horizon, and beyond, to the other shores of the Mediterranean. Admission: Free
