Basilica de la Santa Capilla

This church is found quite close to Bolivar square and all the emblematic buildings that surround it. It was declared a national monument in 1883 and is a small replica of the church of the same name in France. The church fervently houses some artistic treasures, such as "The Multiplication of Loaves of Bread," the last painting that the great Arturo Michelena concluded before his death. Pope Pius XI designated it a Minor Basilica and Pius XII elevated it to Basilica in 1926. Its continuous activity has to do with the worship of the Santisimo Sacramento, or Holy Sacrament, on display uninterruptedly since 1891.
