Joquei Clube (Hipodromo da Gavea)

Located close to the Jardim Botanico on the Gavea side of the Lagoa, this track has been used by Carioca punters since 1926. You can enjoy races four times a week all year round. A few reais will get you into the more luxurious lodge area, but it might be more fun to sit with the "average Joes". Shorts are not allowed. To get there, catch any bus labelled "via Joquei."
