Guadalajara's most prestigious theatre, the building features a neo-classical portico atop Corinthian columns and a marble relief of Apollo and the Nine Muses. Inside, the walls are brimming with murals. A variety of dramatic arts are staged here and it is the host for the Encuentro Internacional del Mariachi (International Encounter of Mariachi). Every Sunday at 10am, the Ballet Folklorico de la Universidad de Guadalajara dances here. The Jalisco Philharmonic performs during the months of June and July. The capacity of the theater is 1,414 people and admission varies with the performance and seat location.
