Jinrickisha StationBetween Neil Road and Tanjong Pagar Road, Singapore City, SingaporeTel: +65 6736 6622 (STB Tourist Information Centre) The Jinrickisha Station was erected in 1903 by the Municipal Council of Singapore under the direction of Samuel Tomlinson. It has a general facade of exposed brick and plaster finishes, and is characterised by pilasters, arched pediments and a square tower capped with an octagonal cupola. This was originally the depot for Singapore's fleet of rickshaws--the primary mode of transport between the 1880s and 1930s in which a two-wheeled carriage is dragged manually by pulling a pair of shafts. The building was restored in 1985 and today houses a restaurant.
