The field is longer and wider, the goalposts are on the goal line and the team gets one less down in a series.
Canadian pro football is definitely different from the version south of the Canada-U.S. border, but it has its devotees - arguably nowhere more so than at McMahon Stadium, the long-time home of the Calgary Stampeders.
The team won the 1998 Canadian championship, the Grey Cup, and has been the league's dominant club for the past decade - led among others by Doug Flutie and Jeff Garcia, both now quarterbacking NFL squads.
Ticket prices vary widely according to stadium seat location. There is parking at the stadium, but a better bet on game days is riding the LRT to the Banff Trail station, a short walk to McMahon.
