The church of Santa Clara is a beautiful example of Bogota's colonial style churches. It was built in the first half of the 17th century and its architecture is very modest - just one nave. Initially it was part of the old convent of the Santa Clara order and today, following an extensive restoration, it is open as a museum. The walls are covered with frescoes and paintings by important colonial artists. Of particular interest is the fine latticework that is used to conceal the choir of nuns.
