Casa del Risco o Casa del MiradorPlaza San Jacinto 15, Colonia San Angel, Mexico City, MexicoTel: +52 5 6162711 This colonial mansion was a mirador (watchtower) for the North American Army during the War of 1847. In the 20th century the accomplished diplomat, writer and politician, Isidro Fabela took possession of it. He restored it and constructed an almost surreal fountain in the courtyard, from an infinite amount of colourful Talavera and porcelain pieces including cups, saucers, tiles and tibors. Fabela's art collection of over 800 pieces is on exhibit, highlighting 16th and 17th century portraits, a collection of Guadalupanas, a Rubens's "Descent", the Fontainbleau School's "The Birth of Venus" and three works by Jose Maria Velasco. There is a large library and a study is re-created to illustrate the governmental role of this political figure during the revolutionary period.
