Achilles PointCliff Road, St Heliers Bay, Auckland, New ZealandTel: +64 (0)9 979 2333 Achilles Point, at the eastern end of Tamaki Drive, is named for the famous ship lost in World War II. Views over the Hauraki Gulf extend to Great Barrier Island on a clear day. A viewing platform looks out over the secluded beach at Ladies Bay (accessible via the cliffs at low tide or by staircase), and the other clothing-optional beaches along the estuary. To the south, about one kilometre up the Tamaki Estuary, lies Karaka Bay where the Treaty of Waitangi was presented to local Maori.
