Near the Hameensilta bridge, the Verkaranta Centre for Arts and Crafts occupies a former dyeing plant built almost 150 years ago. The building is a part of the historic factory landscape by the Tammerkoski rapids. The centre supports ongoing activities in the field of arts and crafts. On the premises, enterprising craftspeople can find useful guidance, and beginners can take part in different courses. Art and crafts exhibitions are arranged frequently. The number of different displays within one year often amounts to dozens. There are two big rooms for the purpose, and an idyllic cafe facing the rapids serves as a natural extension of the cozy rooms. Flowing water creates a beautiful background for exhibitions. Admission fees are EUR3 for adults, EUR2 for children.
