Ollila farm is right in the Pirkkala town centre. The history of the farm reaches back to the 1540s. There are many kinds of farmyard animals here, and the visitors are welcome to learn more about them and the functions of the farm. It is also possible to ride a horse; riding classes are available for beginners as well as advanced riders. The more experienced riders can hire a horse for 30 minutes or an hour and ride independently on the field. All the riding classes need to be booked in advance. A charming country shop can be found in the former main building. The special thing about this shop is that they only sell goods that come straight from the producers (farmers and craftsmen). In addition to meat and other food products, there are many kinds of gifts and handcrafts for sale here, which would make special gifts. It is also possible to have a cup of coffee with a sweet bun at the old kitchen table in the country shop. Ollila farm organises events for groups (less than 25 people). It is possible to get coffee, food and accommodation at the farm as well. All the group meetings need to be booked in advance. You can get a bus from the Tampere city centre (bus numbers 61-63) to get to Ollila farm. Get off at the Pirkkala library stop. The farm can be seen from there. You can also phone the farm and tell the staff when you are going to arrive and someone will be at the bus stop to show you the way.
