St Ann's ChurchThe Parish Church of St Ann, St Ann Street, Manchester, United KingdomTel: +44 161 834 0239 This church - which was consecrated in 1712 - is a wonderful historical landmark in the centre of the city. The architect John Barker was a friend of Christopher Wren's and the architectural style of the building is similar since it's thought that Wren had a hand in the design plans at some point. Standing at the top of St Ann's Square - and providing its focal point - it is a haven of tranquility in the midst of the bustling shops of Deansgate and is well worth a visit during the day. The church is also used as a picturesque and atmospheric setting for concerts by the Meiron Ensemble (members of the Halle Orchestra) and recitals by the students of the Royal Northern College of Music.
