Stockport was the undisputed centre of Northern England's hatters trade in the Victorian era and this major local attraction and educational resource reflects its importance to the local community. From a totally refurbished site in a converted mill - close to Stockport town centre - you can see restored machinery, interactive displays and new exhibits covering designer labels and street style, along with workshops, hat making demonstrations and hands-on sessions where you can even dress up as an apprentice or try your hand at making felt. There is also a small gift shop and a pleasant cafe offering hot and cold snacks throughout the day.
