This city centre red brick building, adjacent to the Birmingham and Midland Institute, is a fine Victorian edifice that was built in 1885 as a Municipal Art School. It still serves a similar purpose, as it is currently occupied by the University of Central England's Art Department. Look out in particular for the beautifully carved rose window. It is not normally open to the public, but is occasionally opened on special heritage days and open days. However, you don't need to get inside to appreciate its architectural beauty.
