Killagh PrioryCallinafercy, Killarney, IrelandTel: +353 66 976 1451 Killagh Priory is associated with many local legends. The priory was originally planned for Farranamanagh (Land of the Monks), but before building began a large flock of crows appeared and transported the building supplies to Killagh. Built in the early 13th century for the Canons of St Augustine, it stands on the site of a pre-Norman church. In the 15th century many alterations were made to the structure, including the addition of a beautiful traceried east window. When Cromwellian forces attacked Killagh Priory, monks removed the bell and sank it in a nearby pool. According to tradition, the pool immediately turned blue and is still known as poll gorm (blue pool). Today the water looks rather brown, which is explained by local folk as the bell rusting.
