While most of Leipzig's major sights are situated in the city centre, the outskirts are also home to the occasional highlight. For example, it's well worth the trip out to Leipzig-Gohlis, once a village in the countryside, but part of greater Leipzig since the late 19th century. Here visitors will find the Friedenskirche, an ancient church with an impressive organ and tower, the latter offering great vistas over the surrounding area. Those interested in a broader history of the city could pop in here on their way to the Gosenschanke Ohne Bedenken.
