Anything worth knowing about the land of the pharaohs is in the Museum of Egyptology, which belongs to the city's university. As well as many original exhibits and faithful reconstructions there are also monuments, sarcophagi and receptacles. Even if you only have a passing interest in Egyptian art and history, be careful you don't end up being locked in, as it really is fascinating. Entry EUR1.50; concessions EUR.75.
