Cloghereen Blue Pool Walk

This pleasant sheltered walk winds through developing wetlands and forested areas. There is a choice of two circular routes. The longer loop (two kilometres) crosses wet areas, as well steep and uneven ground at certain points, and takes about an hour to complete. An accompanying guidebook is sold at Muckross House. The shorter of the two loops (one kilometre) was developed for the visually handicapped. It is quite dry and level. Ropes and tactile posts were erected at its inception, but these are not always maintained. A tape detailing points of interest can be hired with cassette player at Muckross House reception. Follow the Kenmare road until the Muckross Park Hotel and take the first left. The car park for this walk is the next left turn.
