KatharinenkircheZeil 131, City, Frankfurt, GermanyJohann Wolfgang von Goethe was baptised at this simple church in downtown Frankfurt. The baroque church was built in 1678-81 on the remains of what used to be a monastery. It was completely destroyed and rebuilt shortly after the War, although the splendid interior decor could not be restored. The outside of the building is now all that is left of this great church. Today, the church works to support the homeless, who come here for shelter and a warm meal.
