ViktualienmarktAm Viktualienmarkt, Munich, GermanyFounded in 1807 as a small herb market, Viktualienmarkt has developed over the years into one of Munich's biggest markets with an awesome array of fresh flowers, fruit, vegetables, meat, cheese, and fish. The market square is dominated by St. Peter's to the west and the Schrannenhalle (grain hall) to the south, a fantastic construction, which resembles the Marche de la Madeleine in Paris. Several fountains are dotted around the market and serve to commemorate the legendary local singers Karl Valentin, Weiss Ferdl and Liesl Karlstadt.

“We lived in Munich for 8 years. It is our favorite city. We LOVE it! All of it! Every inch. We wandered around the Viktualienmarkt more times than I can remember or count - it is fantastic. Also, if you want the best pastries you will ever eat, visit Risk” 2 of 4 people found this review helpful.Popular Attractions in MunichView all attractions in Munich
