Kasematten - SchlossbergbuhneKaiser-Josef-Platz 10, (Schlossberg), Graz, AustriaThe Kasemattenbuhne is an open-air stage on the plateau of the Schlossberg, set among the scattered ruins of the fort built in 1809. Originally, Kasematten were storage cellars, also used as prisons. They were located below the main house used by the Burghauptmanner. Since its reconstruction in 1937, the site has been used as an open-air stage by the Vereinigte Buhnen Graz for all kinds of public and private events. In the past, these have been concerts, opera, and athletics competitions. Getting there involves a 15-20 minute walk from the Karmeliter or Schlossbergplatz; if you make use of the Schlossbergbahn or the cable car, the time spent walking is greatly reduced.
