Kleinen Berlin

If you want something different than the usual museum, the Kleinen Berlin, or little Berlin, is the place for you. It is an exceptional and complicated underground underground system of passages, tunnels and shelters that were used by German troops during the war, to move unobserved around the city and from one military command to another. Many of the tunnels were walled up after the war and have still not been explored. All that you could need to live underground, including toilets was here, recently discovered by a group of passionate, urban potholers.

To get underground, telephone Ruggero Calligaris, at the Natural History Museum, who is the coordinator of the system, and arranges guided visits which last around two hours. We advise you to dress accordingly and wear resistant shoes, as even though it is well lit and in good condition, visitors sometimes have to walk through water.
