Twenty-first century hippies constitute most of the population in this popular southeast neighborhood. Colorful boutiques, bookshops and eateries saturate the district. Check out Kids At Heart, Man's Best Friend and In Other Words. You will be hard-pressed to find an establishment here that is duplicated anywhere else. Portland's answer to Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco, this is a fun place to spend the afternoon, even if you never followed the Grateful Dead. Credit card acceptance varies by merchant.
