The municipal 'Achille Forti' Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art was inuagurated in 1982, when the last descendant of the Emilei-Forti family, owner of a palace, donated it to the Town Council. The exhibition space, which consists of around 3000m2, is spread out over several floors. It is well worth a visit, if only to look at the frescoes by Francesco Lorenzi, Marco Marcola and Giorgio Anselmi; there is also a civic collection and, for the past three years various temporary exhibitions have been held here. The civic collection is divided into two periods: one part of it is dedicated to nineteenth century art with works by Francesco Hayez, Giovanni Fattori, Giacomo Favretto and Alfredo Savini, while the other part is dedicated to twentieth century art with works by Francesco Perotti, Filippo De Pisis, Felice Casorati, Umberto Boccioni and Emilio Vedova amongst others. The gallery also houses sculptures by Giovanni Dupre, Nereo Costantini, Medardo Rosso and Giacomo Manzu. Various temporary exhibitions have been held in honour of personalities and movements in the world of national and international art. Of particular note were the exhibitions dedicated to the Italian artists De Chirico, Guttoso and Modigliani, as well as those for the works of Degas, Magritte and Picasso.
