Il ponte ScaligeroCorso Castelvecchio, 2, Verona, ItalyThis is probably one of the most photgraphed bridges in Verona, but unfortunately it is not authentic. The original one was blown up by the Germans during the last World War, and it was reconstructed in the 1950s. It consists of a strong brick structure with three arches of decreasing width, resting on crennellated towers. The date of construction is unclear, but it was probably built between 1375 and 1376. The bridge formed part of the complicated defence structure for the Castelvecchio, and linked the city with the road leading to the Tyrol.
