If the Petit train is not to your taste, all is not lost for those seeking a relaxing means of exploring the historic city centre. More dignified than the train and more comfortable than a bike, these horse-drawn carriages negotiate the streets from the Esplanade up to the Promenade du Peyrou. The drivers are an excellent source of information about the history and current life of the city. Anachronistic? Of course, but delightful nonetheless. A half-hour tour costs around EUR16.
