Tienda-Galeria Basandere

In July, 1998, the Basandere shop-gallery opened its doors here on Iparraguirre street. The shop, paradise for the tourist looking for that genuine souvenir, also has a wide range of crafts, food products, books and records from the Basque country, but they have made room for art, as well. Basandere sells paintings and sculptures by vanguard Basque artists who have won scholarships and prizes for their collective or individual work. All of this is to help promote these young artists beyond our borders. The gallery also has a permanent collection of graphic art. Dora Salazar, Judas Arrieta, and Mavi Revuelta have all found a small market abroad with this gallery's help. Even the delicious roasted red peppers, "pimientos del piquillo", have become popular.
