The interior patio is used as a library and the beautiful staircase is made of Carrera marble. It occupies one of the best locations in Madrid, at major crossroads linking Plaza de Cibeles with Calle Alcala, Gran Via and the Paseo del Prado. After opening in 1889, it had to be expanded in 1936 and then again in 1975. The three distinct facades display diverse architectural styles.
