Genoa Courthouse MuseumJacks Valley Road at Main Street, Reno, NVTel: (775) 782-4325 Genoa is the site of Nevada's first courthouse, complete with its jail. It was built in 1865, in what was then a Mormon settlement. It has been restored in recent years and it contains a blacksmith shop and a gift store. You can find handcrafted dolls, books on local history and other Nevada memorabilia. The tour of the museum is free, but donations are appreciated. Genoa is a peaceful little village just a few minutes south of Carson City. There are still some interesting examples of original architecture in the area in addition to the museum.
