Located in a former shoe manufacturing building, this museum will satisfy both the young and the young-at-heart. With three floors of interesting, educational and fun-filled rooms, it is one of the best downtown attractions. The museum is run by a group of artists and professionals with impressive credits, who together produce an awesome array of exhibits. Feel the authenticity of the multilevel enchanted forest, the architectural museum and the giant aquarium. Join in on the circus fun, do some arts and crafts or just enjoy browsing.

  • Fun place to climb, crawl, and explore.
  • The museum needs a better toddler area, more safe for actual toddlers.

“I have known about the City Museum for nearly ten years now and had heard it was like an indoor playground for kids. What an enormous understatement. We went there today and found it to be an amazing indoor and outdoor playground for adults as well as kids. If you always liked climbing trees, buildings, etc., crawling under and around various places, and just actively exploring new places: you will love the City Museum. I would warn: there are a few tight places, high places, and some dark places that might not be fun for everyone. I wouldn't recommend most of the museum for the true toddler set. We ended up carrying our willing (but not yet able) 20 month old around many of the precarious climbing exhibits/slides/etc. Go with children old enough to climb and run safely with supervision.”

  • 4 story slide, outdoor climbing structure, caves.
  • For 5 years old and up.

“This is only true place that I have ever been to satisfy the youngest child to the oldest adult. It's open until 11 on weekends and even has a bar on premises. Climbing, sliding, slithering, learning, it's a full day's adventure. I would fly from any country for a visit at the City Museum.”

  • It's definitely a place to be physically active for all ages.
  • We weren't given any sort of map but will try to get one for next time.

“My daughter-in-law and I took 6, 5, and 3.5 year old girls and we all had a blast though we were only there 2 hours. This wonderful place is only open until 5pm M-The in the summer and we got there at three. Plan to be there more than 2 hours! We can't wait to go back. It helps to have adventurous children! Loved it.”

  • Climbing, crawling and walking through the caves and tunnels.
  • The cafeteria has trouble handling all the crowds.

“This place is a work of genius. I have been there at least 5 times and continue to find new things to look at. My children insist on visiting the museum before we see the relatives.”

“I had spent 2 days at Six Flags- one day at Grant's Farm with my daughter and granddaughter. We found the City Museum by accident. I will gladly tell you it was the highlight of our vacation. It will be our first stop next year.”
