For a great summertime day adventure, a self-guided rafting trip on the American River is hard to top. Take a relaxing three-hour drift down the Lower American River to Goethe Park. The raft rental season runs from mid-April through September. Raft rentals for four-to-12-person rafts cost from USD40 to USD120 per day, or rent an inflatable kayak for only USD27 per day. For another USD3.50 per person, the staff will shuttle you back to the base camp. Reservations are required.

  • Fun with large group.
  • Bad customer service.

“Worse customer service ever. We drove there from San Jose in a large group and the staff was inconsiderate. We were in line but late a couple of minutes before they closed the line for rentals and couldn't make any exceptions.”
