Iglesia del Carmen

Iglesia del Carmen

Plaza de Toros Vieja, 23, Malaga, Spain
Tel: +34 95 2311647

This parish church started out as a Carmelite convent. It was founded in 1584, but an earthquake in 1680 completely destroyed it. The current church was erected at the end of the 17th century, and it was renovated in the 18th century. It is worth taking a look at the chapels inside containing images of Malaga's Holy Week. The church is located in the Perchel district, one of the few areas that still retains some of the atmosphere of Malaga's fishing port past. Mass: 9a, 8p Monday-Friday, 8p Saturday, 9a, 10:30a, noon, 8p Sunday.
