Silverdale Confederate Cemetery

Silverdale Confederate Cemetery

7710 Lee Hwy, across from Motel 6, Chattanooga, TN
Tel: (423) 892-0525

The solitary grave marker represents the burial site of 155 unknown Confederate soldiers of General Braxton Bragg's brigade, who fell during the American Civil War.

This lonely cemetery is Chattanooga's only memorial to the soldiers of the Tennessee army who fought for the Confederate States between 1861 and 1865. The men buried here died during General Bragg's offensive mobilization into Kentucky. Their graves were once marked with wooden head stones, but with exposure to the elements over time the markers fell into disrepair.
