Thomas Whaley Museum2476 San Diego Avenue, San Diego, CATel: (619) 297-7511 This house is one of the few having been authenticated as being haunted by the United States Department of Commerce. Built in 1856 by Thomas Whaley, a New York entrepreneur who came to California during the gold rush, the first two-story brick home was designed to bring Eastern niceties to his wife. Used as the county courthouse and government seat during the 1870s, artifacts and period furnishings remain intact and apparently...so has the ghost. Admission: (before 5p) USD5 for adults, USD4 for seniors and USD3 for children.
