Boddie Mansion500 West County Line Road, (Tougaloo College), Jackson, MSTel: (601) 977-7842 Built in 1848 on the 2,000-acre Boddie Plantation just north of town, the cupola of this antebellum masterpiece was designed so that the rich planter's fiancee could see Jackson from the comfort of home. The marriage did not work out, however, so John Boddie ended up using the cupola to watch over his slaves in the field. Now on the campus of Tougaloo College, one of the nation's premier Black colleges, the Boddie Mansion houses the school's administrative offices.
