Housed in the first public school for African-American children in Jackson, this facility is a treasure of cultural study and research. Displays highlight the contributions of Southern blacks to all facets of life. The cultural center sponsors regular workshops and annual events, such as the yearly Festival of Christmas Trees each December. Gift shop on premises. Admission is USD4.50 for adults and USD1.50 for children.
