Mississippi State Capitol

Built in 1903 and modeled after the United States Capitol building, this imposing Jackson landmark is a great example of the Beaux Arts Classical style of architecture. The seat of Mississippi government, the Capitol recently completed a $19 million renovation, and these improvements are clearly evident on the free one-hour guided tour. Legislative sessions are also open for public viewing, allowing visitors to observe the democratic process in action. Guided tours are conducted Mon-Fri at 9am, 10am, 11am, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm.
