City Hall219 South President St, Jackson, MSTel: (601) 960-1084 • Web: Visit this site » This stunning example of Greek Revival architecture was built in 1846 and enjoys the distinction of being one of the only buildings in Jackson to survive the Civil War. The palatial-looking building has served as city hall for its entire existence, except for a brief stint as a hospital during the Civil War. A third story was added on to the original building a few years after construction for use as a Masonic Hall, and it is believed that Union General Sherman spared the building from the torch because he himself was a Mason.
