Center (The)
99 Queens Road Central, Central, Hong Kong City, Hong KongIt took nearly ten years to acquire enough land to build this colourful skyscraper. Bit by bit, old buildings were purchased until finally work could begin in the late 1990s on the 73-floor structure. A wacky eight-point star section set on soaring braced girders makes the most of the irregular plot of land.
At night the building is easy to spot--just look for a cascade of ever-changing colours. The exterior lighting system is totally computer controlled, a first in Hong Kong.
For a bird's eye view, try Scenario on the 42nd floor just for drinks or a meal.
