Jardine House
Connaught Place, Central, Hong Kong City, Hong KongNot far from the Central Star Ferry pier stands one of Hong Kong's many famous landmarks, known amongst the Chinese as the 'House of a Thousand Orifices' and amongst the expatriate community as the 'Porthole Building'. It is easy to see why this 52-storey office building, with over 1,700 round windows, has evoked a flurry of nicknames. Back in 1971, when it was built, its 180 metres made it the tallest building in Southeast Asia. Today, it still stands out from the crowd. For a good look, take a seat next to the fountain in nearby Connaught Place.
