Standard Chartered Bank Building

Squeezed into a narrow gap next door to the Hongkong & Shanghai Bank you will find a cascade-shaped structure clad in pinkish-coloured polished granite. Bronze detailing adds to the art-deco styling reminiscent of 1930s downtown America.

Most intriguing are two stained glass windows in the lift lobby. The left hand one depicts old Hong Kong, featuring rickshaws, trams, an enormous birdcage and typical street signs. The right hand window honours modern city life with images of an MTR train, a huge mobile phone and an equally huge computer on a backdrop of the modern Central skyline.
