Molokai War Memorial

This solemn little memorial is not in the heart of downtown Kaunakakai; it's about a block away. It looks like a perfectly manicured park. Upon closer inspection, one notices the symbolic cannons and the giant marble monument that looks like a tombstone. The names of Molokai citizens who made the final sacrifice in American wars are engraved on plaques on the stone. The memorial is just as touching (if not more so) than larger mainland memorials because it's obvious that it was built and is maintained by the citizens of Molokai.
