- Great family setting.
- Not much else to do, but swim, camp out and look at the chimneys. This might take 1 day at most. Then you might be tired of it.
“I grew up not far from this site. It is an interesting landform and the walking trail behind it is nice. It has been at least ten years since I last went there. They have an excellent jousting tournament in the fall. I think it is the fall. I am told it is America's oldest continuously held sporting event, but questions the accuracy of this statement. They also have a nice campground and a decent pool (meaning clean enough and bathrooms are primitive) I went there often as a child and I had a blast. It is a great place to spend a weekend with your family (I think it is pet friendly). Bring bikes to ride around. Little traffic (this place isn't well known) and it is safe. Also while in the area, check out other little well-know spots such as Grand caverns in Grottoes and explore the local towns such as Old town Staunton (great for antiques) and also old town Harrisonburg. If you are looking for a place to stay and can't do the tent, then check out B&B Inn at Keezletown Road. I grew up just down the road and it is a great place to stay. Some great places to eat in Harrisonburg are: Indian American Cafe in old Downtown, Taste of Thai (I lived in Thailand for a year. Trust me this place is great!) and anyplace that is owned or operated by the endearing local Mennonites.”
