- Pool and horseshoes.
- Roads were bumpy and washed out. Staff not polite and no activities.
“We went to Outdoor World for a couple of days this week (Thursday to Saturday). We were not that impressed with the place. This campground's roads were very bumpy and washed out. The bathrooms were old and could've used some updates. The staff was not very knowledgeable about what was going on. They say they have boat and Canoe rentals and when we asked, they said they didn't rent anymore and I told her that they probably need to update their website. Her answer was, "I don't have anything to do with that". My husband also told them there was no soap in the men's bathroom, and the lady said "that's housekeeping's responsibility" and later that night, there was still no soap in their bathroom. This was just so unacceptable. I couldn't believe the attitude. There was also no activities planned during our stay, which was really disappointing since they seemed to have a really nice covered pavilion with dance lights for a band or DJ. We did however enjoy the pool and the horseshoes and the free boat launch for our boat. We would like to have played on their putt-putt course, but it was covered with pine straw and wasn't swept or blowed at all during our stay.”

- Shady sites almost everywhere.
- Run down. needs lots of upkeep and TLC.
“Disappointing. At one time, I'm sure this was a very nice campsite, but it has deteriorated badly. It surely needs a lot of TLC. First, road signs are almost nonexistent. Thank goodness for GPS. On site, the roads are getting washed out and extremely bumpy in spots. Cement gulley's make it even worse. The restrooms are not handicapped accessible that I saw, and pre 1960. Very old appliances, but usable. few camp sites are level. Boat ramp is extremely steep, but usable. Store seemed well stocked, but employees did not seem to know of any scheduled events for the campers. Don't think I'll go back.”

- Staff.
- Weekends too short.
“My husband and I have been going to outdoor world for 10 years now. Love the campground, everyone is always so helpful and friendly. Love the lake, boating and swimming are wonderful there. In all the years we've been there we have never encountered any snakes in the water. It's a great place to gather family and friends.”

- Service provided by camp ground personnel.
- Nothing negative to say.
“Her name is Peggy and she has been at Outdoor World for over 27 years. She is "Outstanding"! My family and I try to stay there every year. In over 20 years, it has always been at the top of vacationing list. My boys, now 17 - 16 and my 11 year old daughter just love the lake. Part from the water snake that my 17 year old pulled off his leg while swimming, I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the outdoors. We even acquired two puppies from a nearby neighbor around five years ago. It is really a beautiful sight to see the sun set every night.”

- Everything was great! The Hospitality and knowledge of the staff, the grounds. We only have space for 20 words.
- NOT ONE THING!
“We were in Outdoor World Lake Gaston in July of 2004. We had a great time and had to extend our stay because our heat/air conditioning system burned up. There were no complaining from our 19 and 11 year old boys. The only complaints were we had to leave the campgrounds to go to Lower for an air conditioner to put in our 2002 Itasca's dinette window. We rented a patio boat and took a picnic on the lake. We swam a lot. We wonder if our boys somehow are part fish. We rented a speed boat and went tubing, we fished.
Thank to the Manager there (sorry I forgot her name , but I recognized her from our home campground at Timothy lake and there is NO COMPARSION) she was able to get us in touch with a HVAC person to get our ait fixed so we could get on with our trip to Myrtle Beach. The boys were not happy to leave. We feel on this web site because my now 12 yr old son has a project to do in World Geography and he choose his vacation destination to be Lake Gaston, N.C. So this says alot by it's self of how great that vacation was 2 years ago. Bring your family and friends. Its the Greatest
