Gable House Bowl

  • Cheap drinks.
  • Racist, violent staff.

“When we arrived, I wondered why eggs had been thrown at the front of the building. Half an hour later I had my answer. We had stopped by to send a friend off who is moving away; Gable House is central so we thought it a good choice. Bad decision. When we arrived, loud security guards were standing in the walk way in front of the business. My kids an I had to climb up over the barricade/step to even get in as they were too busy talking loud among themselves to even move out of our way so we could get in. First sign. Next, the music was so loud talking wasn't an option. In the bar, two friends and I waited fifteen minutes while the two bartenders finished talking to their friends before they rudely helped us. They made it obvious we had inconvenienced them. As soon as we walked back into the bowling alley, large, rude overzealous security guards began to yell at us to leave. Apparently there is a cover charge that no one at the door mentioned to us. Fair enough, but they wouldn't even let us finish our drink. They began to threaten our group of thirty with bodily harm if we didn't comply. Yeah, you want some of this? kind of stuff. Remember, our office had simply wanted to stop by and have a drink with our friend who is moving away. As they herded us into the parking lot, the real fun began. We were trying to come up with a plan and so were talking in front of the Bowling Alley when team charming came out after us and the other twenty or so people they had rudely kicked out of their establishment. They repeatedly threatened us and everyone else they had thrown out with bodily harm if we didn't leave immediately. Now call me dumb, but wouldn't it be smarter to allow fifty people to stay in your bar and buy food and drinks and bowling games rather than forcibly throw out half the people in your establishment in such a way as to guarantee that the only reason they would ever come back is to throw eggs? And this brings me to the final straw. One of the fifty or so people they threw out appeared to be middle eastern. The security guards repeatedly called him a monkey, and a terrorist. They said get off my property and get out of my country. At this point, not only was I embarrassed for the security guard, but for the manager of the Gable House who refused to meet with anyone who asked to speak with him about the behavior of his employees and who obviously condones this behavior. Not only will I never come back, I will make it a point to tell everyone I know, and everyone I don't know about this embarrassment in Torrance. In case anyone from the city of Torrance wants it, my friend got most of this on her video phone.”
